Our first productive day!

Today was the first opportunity we'd had in a long time where the weather was dry and we didn't have other plans so we managed to spend some time at the allotment.

The first task was to tidy up some of the raised beds. This one had leeks in.

So armed with my fork and Bubble being Foreman and shouting 'Dig' at the appropriate times I dug up the leftover leeks from last year. As you can see some of them were very small so we put those in for compost and the rest be brought home to make soup with.

The next task was this bed:

It contained some kale and some brussel sprouts. Both of them weren't fit to eat so the boys helped remove the netting and after some more shouting of 'Dig!' we cleared the bed.

Boa is still a bit young to understand what is going on so we had our hands full trying to keep an eye on him as he had a tendency to keep wandering off! I think when the weather is warmer and he can sit and play (or eat!) he'll be a bit happier. However it wasn't all bad as he met his first worm!

The boys also decided that they would help clearing some of the beds which was quite amusing.

The garlic that we planted in February has started to shoot now so we can actually say we're growing something now :)

We came home and planted a lot of herb seeds (to grow at home), a blackcurrant bush and also started the onions and shallots so that we could put them in the greenhouse until the weather improves.
