Summer?

Today was a bank holiday and unusually for a bank holiday (and this year) it was warm. We headed to the allotment fairly early but realised that if it's sunny a lot more people turn up. We've been used to one or two people being there (or none as per the last visit!) but today the car park was full.

The council have now turned the water on so we could finally do some much needed watering. This is where the boys came in handy. Although neither could carry the large watering can when full they both wanted to.

We were lucky because Mike was also at the allotment which meant we had advice to hand - we definitely needed it, an extra person to dig and also he kept an eyes on the boys when we needed to plants some seeds. He also advised us not to put the runner beans out until the end of May in case we have another frost.

So today we planted a row of leeks and a row of broccoli. As they become more established we will plant them on to their final bed.

Bubble also helped with the digging whilst his Dad sat and watched :)

We need to do a little more planning now as some of the beds have changed around and some things we needs to work out when and how to plant. That's my job for this week!
